More Couponing Advice

I wanted to share a little more information on how I organize my coupons and save money.
First, I have created a coupon binder that makes it super easy to find exactly what I am looking for.  To print out your own Laugh, Love, and Craft Coupon Binder go here.

Once I had all of my coupons in order, I was able to use my coupons more efficiently.  Some people like to use baseball card holders to organize each coupon they have.  Especially if you have more than one specific coupon, this helps.  I also have a small scissors and pen inside of my binder.  I like to keep my current ads and coupon inserts inside of the binder, you never know what your going to find on clearance!

Each week, I like to create a weekly menu for our dinners. Some people like to plan out lunches too, but dinners are the big meal in our house.  We like to usually do leftovers for lunch.  I plan using this menu outline.  Here is an example of a weekly menu of mine:

I use the weekly grocery store ads in conjunction with my coupons to plan out my menu.  This way I am planning around the deals that I can find.  I also like to look at what I already have in stock!

Once I have planned the menu, I get out my grocery list.  I use this outline so that all of my foods are catergorized.  Then I add the coupons that I have on the right of the item.  For example, if I have two $0.50 coupons, I will write 2 x .50.  This way I have it written down what coupons I have, which helps me keep track at the register.  The cashiers and computers can make mistakes, so watch your coupons carefully!

Let me know if you use these guides to help your family save money or stay organized.  Remember to check out my other tips on my Coupon Page.

Manic Monday Recipe~Avocado Salad

This is such a yummy dish that I use for a side at most of my BBQs.  It has lots of fresh veggies and great flavor.  I know that some of you are still getting snow, but I can't help it, down here in Houston I'm in 70-80 degree weather!  I love summer!
I'll post a picture the next time I make this.

Ingredients:
3-5 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 Freshly Squeezed Lemon
1 Freshly Squeezed Lime
1 Can of Black Beans (drained and rinsed)
1 16 oz Frozen Bag of Corn (Cooked and Drained)
3-4 Avocados Diced
2 Tablespoon Chopped Fresh Cilantro
1 Small Red Onion Diced
3-5 Vine Tomatoes Diced
Salt and Pepper to Taste (I like to use Kosher Salt)
1 Jalapeno Diced (optional)

Directions:
After all of the prep, just mix the ingredients together, and let chill in the fridge for at least an hour before serving.

You can use this as a side dish, a salsa dip, or even on top of your grilled chicken.  Enjoy!

Sunday Fun Day! Easy Easter Shirt!

I have fallen in love with this project!  I love using freezer paper and acrylic paint to create these adorable shirts!  Here's a link to my previous freezer paper shirt.  This time I created something with a little more detail, requiring some major patience!

Materials:

Iron/Ironing Board
Paint
t-shirt/onesie

Directions:
Begin by finding an egg on your computer and printing it out. Then trace the clover on the freezer paper.  Next, you should cut out the egg, and iron it on your onesie/shirt (shiny side down).

Once your freezer paper is adhered to your shirt, place a piece of cardboard or poster paper inside so the paint doesn't bleed.  Then, begin painting inside of your egg.

Make sure to follow the directions for using the paint.  Mine said wait an hour before adding another coat, but I am a rebel, ok I guess impatient, so I didn't wait!  But follow this instruction...don't pull the freezer paper off until you are done with your coats.  It's really hard to stay in the lines after the paper is up!

Once the paint has dried, pull your paper up and voila!

And if you don't have the time to make it on your own, you can buy it in my My Shop!

No Fat YUMMY Jello Salad

I'm not in love with cottage cheese, but this is really tasty.  My husband and I are on weight watchers, and both watching our "points," so my mom shared this recipe with me that she got from her trainer.  It's super easy to make and a great low calorie snack for the whole family.

Ingredients:
16 oz. carton of fat free cottage cheese
1 small package of raspberry/strawberry sugar free Jello
1 16 oz. fat free cool whip
Fresh fruit (optional)

Directions:

SOOOO EASY! Just mix the ingredients together and there you have it!
If you want to, you can add fresh fruit to the mixture, this would be great in a trifle bowl in layers for a spring/summer dessert or salad.
Enjoy!
