Manic Monday Recipe ~ Death By Chocolate

Ingredients:
Family Size Box of Brownies (Cook using ingredients and directions on the box)
2 Small packages of instant chocolate pudding
3 Cups of Milk
8 oz or 12 oz of Cool Whip
Trifle Bowl

Directions:
1. Make a family size box of brownies.
2. Mix 2 small packages of instant chocolate pudding with 3 cups milk.
3. Fold in 8 oz (or 12 oz depending on the size of your serving bowl) of Cool Whip. Set aside and save enough cool whip for a thin layer at very top.
4. Cut brownies into pieces and layer in bottom of bowl.
5. Add a layer of pudding/cool whip mixture.
6. If desired, toss in a handful of chocolate chips or pieces of a heath bar.
7. Add another layer of brownies.
8. Add another layer of pudding/cool whip mixture.
9. Continue with the layers until you're bowl is almost full or you are out of ingredients.
10. Spread out the remaining cool whip (just cool whip) that you set aside.
11. Sprinkle chocolate chips, heath bar, caramel sprinkle, etc. on top for decoration.

This is such a great and easy desert to take to a party.  Enjoy!

Glitter Wreath

This weekend I began creating a really cool DIY wreath that I found on Homemade By Jill 's website.  She has directions for making the craft with pictures.  A great tutorial.  I used Loctite for the spray adhesive and it worked great.  I decided to use a brown colored card stock.  The card stock holds up best fora project like this.  I used a 10 inch foam wreath.  I am so excited with how it turned out.  I think that it would be a great gift to give someone.  I am planning on making one using blues/silvers or reds for the holidays.  It is such an easy decoration to make for any season.  It would be fun to use pastel colors for a spring theme!  Here's a few photos of how mine turned out.

Here's how I tied my bow...
Step 1.  Find the center of your ribbon and make a crease by folding it.
Step 2. Fold two "rabbit ears" keeping the crease as your center.

Step 3.  Make a knot by tying the ears together.
Step 4. Work the bow so that it looks even on both sides.
I hope this has sparked an idea for you!

Thanks for the idea Jill!

Craft Room Has Begun!

Today, Nick is creating my craft room.  Normally I would be involved in something like this, but he wants me to be surprised.  Here are some of the things that I hinted around for!  I knew I wanted enough desk space to complete projects, yet have my computer, Cricut, and sewing machine on it too.  I also wanted some storage (like wooden dowels for my ribbon, places for Cricut cartridges, fabric etc.)  I can't wait to take pictures and post them!

Here's the link to my finished craft room!

Pasta Salad (Greek or Italian)

I can't take credit for this recipe, but it is one of my favorites to add as a side dish.  My mother-in-law shared this with me a few years ago.  I have given different options of certain ingredients so that you can theme your salad.

Ingredients:
1 Box of noodles (Rigatoni, bow tie, or elbow)
1 16 oz Greek or Italian Salad Dressing
1 Large Green Pepper (or a mixture of red, yellow, and green)
1 Medium Sized Red Onion
1 Canister of Crumbled Feta Cheese or cubed Mozzarella
*Optional* Can of sliced black or green olives
*Optional* Can of Artichoke

Directions:
Prepare the noodles as described on the box.  Once drained, I like to drizzle some Extra Virgin Olive Oil on the noodles so that they aren't sticky.  Let the noodles cool a bit.
Chop the pepper and red onion.
Mix all of the chosen ingredients with the cooled noodles.
It's best when it has been placed in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
Enjoy!

**I always like to have a little extra dressing on hand so that if the salad dries out I can "dress" it up ;) **

Moving Week!

My family is finally getting over bronchitis and sinus infections.  It hit us hard at the worst possible time!  We are finally in Houston and getting settled.  We close on our new home on Tuesday and the movers bring our stuff on Wednesday.  We can't wait to get into it!
I have been trying to figure out how I want to decorate.  I love repurposing what I have to make it look like something new.  Hopefully we will be as happy as we were at our house in St. Louis.  We miss it already!

Sorry!

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted, I have been cleaning my house and preparing for our move to Houston.  And of course now have come down with something.  My throat is killing me.  Hopefully before the movers come on Wednesday I will feel better.
I have been thinking of ways to reuse the baby wipe tubs that I have an abundance of!  They are really durable.  Here are some uses I have thought of...
~Fill with water and freeze for your cooler
~Use for storage (Crayons, Markers, home-made play dough, buttons, or game pieces)
~Fill with medical supplies and put it in your car
~Decorate as a family and create a question box or discussion starters for the dinner table

Frugal Village also has some great ideas, check out the link.

I'd love to hear your ideas on how you could reuse baby wipe containers.  Please share!

If you're interested in using coupons, please check out my next post on how I store and use my coupons.  I will be posting within the next two days.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend!

Decorated Onsies

Every month I take a photo of Elle next to a paper that I decorate that indicates what month she is.

I wanted to do something fun for a friend of mine that was pregnant at the time.  So I decided to make some onesies with the number of the month on the front.  Here are some of my favorites.

I knew I could cut out numbers with my Cricut Machine, but didn't know if I could cut fabric or not.  So I went to youtube to see if there were any videos on doing this.  I found this video, and it was very helpful.
Here are the instructions that The Scrap Review shares.
Materials:
Fabric
Cricut Machine/Cricut Cartridge
Steam-A Seam 2
Scissors
Iron/Ironing Board
Painters Tape (Make sure you have enough!  The hubby had to do a late night run to Walmart!!

1.) Cut your fabric to the size that your project requires.
2.) Iron on your Steam-A-Steam to the back of your fabrics. Keep the other side of the paper on.
3.) Load your cartridge, and then you'll put your fabric face down on the Cricut mat.  Make sure to press down so it is securely on the mat.  In the video she shares that you need to only put the painters tape around the edges, but when I was doing the numbers, I had to cover the entire piece of fabric in painters tape.  Because I was doing small numbers, it didn't work as well as the cupcake she showed.
**Make sure that if you are cutting numbers/letters that you use the flip button so they aren't backwards!  If you are cutting out basic shapes like a flower or cupcake you don't need to do this.**
4.)  Pressure settings:  Dial on the blade: 6 and the knob on the side of the Cricut should be set to high.
5.)  Size: For this particular project, I used 2 inches.
6.)  Speed:  I used the medium speed.
7.)  Load your mat.
7.)  Select what you want to cut out and hit the cut button.
8.)  Once the Cricut has finished, unload your mat.  Then peal off your fabric.
9.)  Then peal the paper/tape off of the fabric shape and place the fabric onto a onesie.  Then iron the fabrics.

If you don't have a Cricut, don't fret!  You can always get some InkJet Transfer Paper that you can print from your computer and iron onto your items!

Talking with friends, we have come up with many other ways of using the Cricut to cut out fabric.  Some of the ideas we came up with are using canvas bags to decorate for groceries, teachers, friends, Halloween bags and many others.  We also thought of buying aprons and putting someones initials on them, making t-shirts and blankets.  What are some of your ideas?  Please share!
